What is the 200 Club?
What is the 200 Club?
It’s pretty simple but the mentality that it represents is uncommon and certainly worth adopting… If you assign a numerical value to each letter (for example: A = 1, B = 2, C = 3 ... Z = 26), now spell out "Fucking Relentless"… add up the values of the letters and you get 200!! That’s it! That's the 200 Club. It's about being relentless in everything you do. In baseball especially, but really in any area of life, everything comes down to moments. Being present, regardless of the outcome and then being ready again with clarity and desire to just be “in that moment". That’s the 200 Club. Competing every day to be a better version of yourself, to be a better brother, friend, Dad, etc. Getting back up every time you get knocked down or set back. The 200 Club is a mantra we tell ourselves to stay in the moment, and recognize that winning these moments in life over and over again can turn into something special over time.
About 20 years ago, Pat Murphy came up with the saying with the legendary sports psychologist Harvey Dorfman. Harvey impacted Murphy and so many other people right through to his death in 2011. I can still remember some of the sayings that Harvey would tell my dad: “Don’t really matter Murph about how you feel, but how you gonna behave?”…. And “Nothing can screw you up without your consent “ …The 200 Club was partly Harvey’s invention.
Help us honor that 200 Club mentality that we can all use and live by as we pursue our dreams every day!
